WOW! The day started out rough.  I tossed & turned all night- probably from drinking a diet pepsi too close to bedtime (dumb!).  Then my stomach felt yucky, could hardly get any breakfast down.  So I was kinda nervous how it would all turn out.  I AM THRILLED!! I finally got a 10K time in the 40's! That was my ultimate goal that I really did not think would happen today.  I started out close to front of pack (6:59 1st mile) I figured I started too fast and would burn out, but I think that fast mile actually helped me make my overall time.  From there I slowed down considerably- splits were:

1- 6:59

2-8:03

3-7:36

4-8:09

5-8:18

6-8:16

last .16- 7:26

I knew I had to stay under 8 min. miles to make my goal and thanks to a great downhill course and a good mile 1 & 3, I was able to do it.  Weather was perfect.  Crowd actually seemed a bit smaller to me than last year? Good bloggie turn out! Great results from many of them: Nick, Clyde, Dave, Steve, Bill, Dustin, Lyndsey, Mike Thomas (who I met today), Mik'L, Bonnie, Ally, Linda and MARCIE took 1st in women overall- she ROCKS! Sorry, I'm sure I'm forgetting some bloggies' names- it was fun to see you all!

From MichelleL on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 16:54:57

Congratulations! What a breakthrough race for you! Sometimes running "too fast" at the beginning is just the ticket! Now that I know you have sub -7:00's in you I'm going to start asking for more of them ;)

From dave holt on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 17:15:43

Great job - sub 50!

From Mik'L on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 17:27:46

Way to go Christi! I was so excited to hear your smokin time! I was telling Clyde that I came up on someone in the second mile that looked like you from behind and I totally got a mental block thinking I went out way too fast cuz I shouldn't be anywhere near Christi, so I totally slowed down I think and then I realized it wasn't you! haha Great job again. You always look so cute at races too.

From Kim on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 17:53:57

From Christi on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 19:06:01

From andee on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 19:58:05

WOW what a great race for you! Congratulations on a PR and feeling great. Keep up the good work!

From Lybi on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 20:40:22

You did it! You did it! Congratulations, Christi!!!, Wow you are running so strong this year. 2 1/2 minutes off your PR. Wooo-Hooo!

Did you know that this time officially takes you off the botushka (meaning talkative female who mainly runs only for fun) list? Sasha says that any girl who can run a 10K in under 50:00 is not a boltushka. So congrats. You're big-time now!

From Bethany on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 20:45:07

Speedy speedy. Way to go on the awesome time. Congrats!

From josse t on Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 22:38:28

Great job on gettin into the 40's that is such an accomplishment. I love the pic. that was my sons favorite ride we probably did it 20 times.

From Christi on Sun, Mar 16, 2008 at 11:42:59

Lybi- really?! I may be taken off the botushka list?! no kidding?! But I meet the definition to a tee! hee hee...! Andee, Bethany & Josse- thanks! Josse, I'm glad you can tell its the Buzz Lightyear ride photo 'cause its so blurry. We were too lazy to carry our camera around DL so those are the only in park photos we have. It was a blast!

From Mike Warren on Sun, Mar 16, 2008 at 12:05:56

Awesome PR! That was a really fast 1st mile. Also, after the first mile you stayed very consistent. You ran a very smart race, good job!!!

From laura on Mon, Mar 17, 2008 at 22:23:13
