I was very inspired by the race reports this past Saturday! Good job everyone!! Another reason I love this blog- the race reports helped to motivate me & get a little more serious about my goals.  I really want to break my 5k PR this year for starters.  I think it would help me to run alone at least 1x a week.  I usually run with friends & we chat the whole time, therefore not really pushing myself in my training runs.  Today I went alone and averaged 8:49 on a tough 5 miler (more than 50% was slight uphill).  I think I can definately get to 8:35/8:40 average pace on my training runs if I run alone more often.  I don't want to be above 9:15 unless its a long run.

I'm thinking about running a 5k in Florida June 7th while I'm down there.  This probably wouldn't be the PR 5k because I haven't really been doing any tempo, speed work lately.  But ESPECIALLY because I don't know how I'll do in the heat.  It will be low to mid 90s and very high humidity most likely.  But I love to do races in other places when ever I have the opportunity and this one is at a cool nature park so I think it will keep hubby & kids entertained while I do a quick (hopefully, hee hee) 5k.  I'll have a week to run down there before the race so I can decide if my body can handle the heat in a race or not.

Hope it isn't that hot all the time! The race will be in the morning and it may be a little cooler... If the temps are cooperative you'll have a good chance for a PR because of the elevation, and I just doubt there will be any hills to worry about. Good luck! Good plan.

Tom and I are loving looking for races in places we visit. It sounds like lots of fun. Enjoy!

Oohh Florida sounds so nice, I think you should run it just for the heck of it. I have been running by myself alot more. I have my easy runs with my group on tues/thurs and occasinally a friday or sat. On the other days I like to go on my own or with people that push me. I think its really helped me. Oh yah and you asked me about my next race, I might do the 10k here on the 7th but we will see, and then wasatch back and then bryce 1/2. Hey are you going up with your family or friends?

From MarcieJ on Mon, May 26, 2008 at 12:07:03

That last part didnt make sense. Are you running Bryce and if so are you going up with family or friends?

Wow-great job today! Your plan sounds good. I hope I improve my pace to your level this time around!

I think you should go for the 5K in Florida. The nice thing about humid places is that they are usually much cooler in the morning. We are going to New York City in August and are trying to find a race or long run too. I think it's a great way to see a new place.

You should run the 5k in Florida. It will be a great experience! I like 5K's because it is pretty easy to asses where you are at training wise and what you need to focus on. Great job getting your run in today.

Hi Ladies! You all are getting me more & more excited about doing the 5k in Florida. I'm planning on it! Thanks for the support. Marcie- regarding Bryce 1/2- I actually just booked a room today and I'll be taking hubby & kids. I think we'll make a mini 4-wheeling trip out of it. How 'bout you? What are your plans?

From sarah on Mon, May 26, 2008 at 22:06:09

Wow...you are smokin on your training runs. I have to admit that I am not inspired to run faster......I really should call myself lazy running mommy.

From Lybi on Mon, May 26, 2008 at 22:14:35

C'mon Sarah. You're pregnant, NOT lazy! Not by any stretch of the imagination.

From sarah on Tue, May 27, 2008 at 03:08:04

I was too lazy to qualify that statement...of course I'm refering to my non pregnant self.

From Christi on Fri, May 30, 2008 at 09:31:26

Wow- I'm a couple days late responding to this comment- BUT Sarah you are NOT lazy. I admire your consistency! I'm probably actually too worried about pace, I should be more worried about being more consistent!
