7 miles with Sole Sisters.  We were a little slow but considering Steph is still recovering from surgery and we all had "candy hangovers"  I think we did A-OK.

Week in review.... I didn't have much time for blogging during the week. I tried to go back in Sat. and put in my workouts.  I can't even remember them all... I THINK I got 'em.  On the plus side I did get in 4 workouts.  On the minus side, 2 of the 4 were wimpy.  I'm glad I got in at least 3 runs.  That's good for me these days.  I regret not going to spin or weights.

The goals....

1. Keep the 3+ runs a week

2.  Add a weight day

The plan...

M- run foremaster w/ sole sisters

T- spin

W- weights

Th- run

Sat- run

2 mile walk with the dog.  Called in sick to work. Fighting a cold, but couldn't sit home-had to get in a little exercise.  Had a nice walk around the neighborhood and chatted on phone with my sisters.  Even stopped to encourage a neighbor of mine to join the blog! Still feel the cold coming on, but the "sick day" did me good!

Pre-blogging here.   My schedule has been impacted a bit by Boy Scouts going out in the morning to hand out flags (election day). So, I won't make it to gym for weight class but I am promising myself 4 miles in between getting my son to Boy Scouts and having to be back home to get my daughter up!

Update:  Thanks for checking on me Lybi! I did get in 3 of the 4 preblogged miles.  Nice solo, early morning run.  No IPOD or Garmin.  9:11 pace.

Yay! So I got lucky today that the benefits of the marathon training are still with me a bit.  I didn't run Wed- Fri. (no good excuses, just really busy w/ work & tired).  But Wed. I registered for the Snow Canyon 5k. I knew I'd see some friends there, but I went alone which made it a bit of a challenge.  It would have been really easy to stay home and blow it off.

I decided I'd warm up a bit more this time, did 1 easy mile (9:20) right before the race.  To PR I would have to run a 7:43 av. pace, so I set my virtual partner to that knowing it would be a stretch.  I didn't know much about the course except for that it was a trail out & back with what looked like a "slight" incline up for the 1st half of the race.  So I took off near the front but wanted to hold back a bit so I didn't burn out in the first mile which I usually do.  I looked down and was 6:XX so I backed off a bit. I felt good that the front of the pack wasn't getting away from me like usual.  I was staying near the front of the pack!  I spotted my friend Emily who I know is a 22:XX finisher and she wasn't too far from me. I decided to keep my eye on her and just try to stay the say distance from her.  We got into the incline soon after start- ughhh! But I got excited knowing if I could just keep a good pace on this uphill that I could fly on the downhill.  An aid station was semi set up at the turn around point but not manned.  I decided to definitely skip a drink.  I loved the 2nd half of this course, very fast & fun.  Passing the runners who were completing the first half of their course gave me a spring in my step.  I even had a little kick at the end of the race (I never have that!).

My time ended up 24:36 Garmin / 24:43 race time (of course I prefer the Garmin time!).  Didn't make my PR by about 30 seconds but still happy with this race.  I knew I'd be happy with anything 24:XX given my training the second half of this year.  I got 1st in my age division- icing on the cake! That means a lot to me! (pays to run small races, I know...) Got a little cut glass looking award.  Shirts were pretty cute for this race too, long sleeve white ones with a fun font for the logo. Unfortunately I was a bit late picking up my packet and they had run out of the bags that had headbands and other goodies.  My shirt is also kinda big, but it was the last M so I should be thankful I didn't end up with XL (all they had left after I got my shirt)

No good excuse for goose egg today except for my extremely erratic sleep schedule lately.  Last night I was driving back from Vegas until 2am.  But if I was tough like Jody that wouldn't even be an excuse! (I've seen her do tough runs on zero sleep!).

Will exercise tomorrow before I hit the sack or all you bloggies will yell at me- deal?!

Andi thanks for checking on me today and holding me accountable.  You posted something like "can't wait to read the update" and I was like what?... what is she waiting for? Then duh! I figured you're waiting for me to post my workout like I said I would... hee hee...

ANYWAY- It was a busy day (as usual).  I was off work for Veteran's Day but the kids still had tons of activities and "early out" school day.  Plus Jimmy's out of town so no help there.  OK, enough excuses.  I was inspired by Jody today when she said she doesn't allow herself to make excuses because then they don't ever stop.  Amen.

I got out for a quick paced walk with my rowdy dog.  Didn't take a watch but I'm going to guesstimate 3 miles.

Tomorrow early morning weights!

Special thanks to our Veterans today.  As I watch the current social situations in our country and globally I really appreciate more & more the freedoms we have and the strength of our country.  We owe MUCH to our selfless soldiers. Thank You!

Beautiful fall walk today.  Alone & fast paced (for a walk).  Just felt like walking this week and not running.  Want to be outside enjoying the fall weather and take it all in SLOWLY.  I'm not gonna be too hard on myself about that.  Still struggling with trying to fit workouts into my work schedule, also not having a partner AND shorter daylight hours.  I just don't dig the gym enough to go there everyday- I need to be OUTSIDE.  I know I have a new plan every week- its laughable....but I realize I have to do exercise that I really enjoy or it just won't get done.  Plan for this next week- a couple short runs (2-3), spin class and we'll take it from there...I think I'll try to get some more workouts in on Fri, Sat & Sun instead of trying to get them all in M-F like I usually do.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  The kids have been having "late nights" with friends and I've been single mommy since Jim's been working alot this weekend. Between all the kids' activities I snuck into my room to watch Run Fatboy Run.  Pretty funny show.

I'm gonna guess and put in 1.5 miles.  Nice Sunday walk with the fam today.  We parked downtown and walked around the temple grounds and over to the park.  Did I mention that I LOVE fall in St. George?!

Nice 3.5 mile walk at night in hilly neighborhood.  Sad as I walked by the boy's home who was shot in an accidental shooting this past week.  The friends/family had set up a beautiful memorial in his front yard.  So sad!

Are you sitting down?!!! I actually got up early and went to the GYM to weight lifting class.  Oh man, I'm gonna feel it this week!  Saw Tammy and she invited me to run with her tomorrow.  I really should if I can get out of bed tomorrow.

Yeah, yeah Andi.  Thanks for checking on me.  I DID sleep in and hobbled around all day on my stiff legs (from weight class).  BUT I have running plans for tomorrow.  Already "preblogged" it to make myself stick to it!

Preblogging 4 miles with Heather.  She's coming to meet me Thurs. am.  Wish I could whip out my camera and take a pic of her- but she HATES that kinda stuff.  She is about 20 weeks pregnant and just bought a running "girdle".  She's so ambitious! Oh wow! Check out www.stgeorgerunningcenter.com & watch the 2008 St. George Marathon video. If you need inspiration/ motivation- watching those guys & gals finish will do it for ya!

Preblog followup (guess that would be postblog?) Heather did come and we got in a nice hilly (SLOW) 4 miler.  Cold out there this morning!

TONIGHT I'm going to TWILIGHT at midnight! Can't wait!

Nice quick walk w/ Teddy around the lake at Daybreak. Didn't take a watch, but guessing it was about 2 miles.  In SLC for a weekend while Jim interviews at Westminster.

Nice Sunday walk to the park in Daybreak with kids, niece & doggy.  Again, didn't take watch but will guess 2 miles.  OK- tomorrow officially kicks off "Maintain Don't Gain" an incentive program through my work that is supposed to help me ward off the Holiday Fat! You get points for doing things right, then at the end of Dec. if you stuck with the program you are entered into a drawing for some giftcards.  I figure- hey- why not, I could use the extra push right now. I'll start the morning with spin class too, that ought to help!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

Nice run with Sole Sisters, catch up time.  It was challenging but I think going to spin & walking has helped keep my fitness level up so it wasn't as hard as I expected considering I haven't run much in the past 2 weeks.

We ran all over downtown and looked at Tammy's festive windows that she painted and even visited Shelly's sister.  Fun run!

Then home to watch Macy's parade and look over ads to design my shopping strategy for tomorrow.  Went to Wilkinsons for lots of food & fun.  Great day, so much to be grateful for!
