Ran from home to Webb Hill (dirt, steep uphill) & back w/ Heather.  4.2 miles.  Good hill work.  Felt short, I guess because I've been running longer lately.  Plan is to pick Heather up for weight lifting class tomorrow so we'll actually make it there!  I think I'm going to do the LaVerkin 5K on Wed.  Don't have anyone to do it with, but can't pass up a holiday 5K!

Ran the Enoch 5k today. Was a great way to start the July 4th holiday, no doubt about that.  The race was ran well, nice small town feel.  It was cool when I arrived at 6:30, but soon the sun came over the Mtn. and it got HOT! I went into this knowing I wasn't prepared to do my best 5K.  I also knew the course was tough, I ran the 10K a few years ago.  High altitude, incline and dirt for about 1/2 the course.  Since I'm training for the SG Marathon, I've been mostly focused on mileage lately and most of them have been easy, slow miles.  Usually before a 5K I really work on speed more and run more quick 4 mile runs about 3 weeks leading up to the race.  Not this time.  I didn't even decide for sure that I would do this race until yesterday.  That being said, my time was 2 minutes slower than my last 5K (PR). Even unprepared, I really wanted to get at least close to 26 min. flat.  I haven't run a 5K this slow in over a year.  Oh well.  I learned a lot from this run.  You can't have your cake & eat it too.  If you want to run a good 5k, you must PREPARE! Oh, yeah- the 10 yr. age divisions didn't help me much either.  If I was a year older I could've taken a 2nd, but my time would've still been slow- so not much satisfaction in that.  OK- enough of my belly aching.  I'm ready to take the kids to the park for the July 4th festivities then onto the Lake- enjoy the holiday with my family! Hope everyone out there has a GREAT JULY 4th! LET FREEDOM RING!

Oh My! My mileage for last week is SOOO BAD! My husband & I caught the spontaneous trip bug Thurs morning- we decided to go to Disneyland! Just came back today, Sunday.  So I did LOTS of walking, but hardly any running this week! Yikes.  Going for 10 mi. tomorrow morning w/ Heather.  Shooting for at least 25 miles this week.  Right now I'm saying the family trip was worth it, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow during and after my long run!

Well our planned 10 miler turned out to be a 7 miler.  Heather's baby woke up and needed attention at start time.  I was actually glad we only did 7.  5 would have been OK with me today.  Since I had taken 4 days off running, I knew it wouldn't be the best for my bod to jump into 10 miles.  The left knee started bugging after about 5- probably a combination of all that Disney walking and sitting in the car all day yesterday- then jumping into a long run.  I will run an easy 4 tomorrow and try to get in some light toning at home (abs, arms, etc), but don't think I'll do the gym weight class- tires me out too much when I'm trying to get in a good weekly mileage.

3 miles at 8:45 pm tonight.  Still HOT (like 100 degrees)! Yikes.  Struggled a bit, had to take a couple walking breaks and I always hate that, esp. on a short run.  Oh well, paying the price for sleeping in this morning.  But ooohhh I got about 9 hrs. of sleep last night- most I've had since who knows when- and it was GREAT!  Glad I got out anyway and logged a few miles.  My energy level felt good, I think it would have been a good run if it wasn't 100 outside! But it was weird running on a full stomach.  It had been at least an hour since I'd had dinner, but still felt yucky.  I usually run early and eat a small breakfast before and a normal size one after the run.... Tomorrow morning Heather's meeting me for a 4 miler w/ tough incline.

Good run w/ Heather today.  4.2 miles inc. Webb Hill (dirt, tough incline).  Felt much better to be out there at 6am instead of 9pm.  Don't get it wrong, it wasn't cool- pushing 90- but that's better than 100!

Spin Class today.  As usual, love this class! Maybe its the music? Perhaps I need a better running mix on my IPOD... Felt good energy today.  Probably because I recovered yesterday.  Also ate a bigger breakfast before class, think that helped me keep up energy.  Lastly, I think my legs are in better shape now than a couple months ago, due to logging more miles the last couple months.

Plan to run 7.5 on SG trails w/ Heather tomorrow

About 7 ? miles from Dixie Convention Center to around Bloomington Drive and back.  GREAT run this morning! Heather & I both were clipping along and feeling good.  Our pace felt really nice, probably just under 10 min. miles. Our only stops were a couple water stops.  Neither of us took a watch, but I wish I had to track the splits.  Didn't hit my 25 miles this week, but just over 21.  Glad I got in Spinning, but should have ran a couple miles on one of my lazy goose egg days... I leave Wed. for CA (just hubby & I, my parents are watching the kids for a week- yah!) and will be gone Wed-Wed so will try to get in some good runs M,T,W- hope to run in CA a little, then hit it hard again when I get back in town.

Well, baby interference again.  But aren't they worth it?! Heather's little cutie set us back so we only got in 3.2.  But since I was DRAGGING anyway, that was OK w/ me.  The plan is run hills tomorrow then weight class and run long Wed.  Then I'm on my own in CA for Thurs-Tues- I will try to get in a couple runs out there.

Chose to sleep in - the kids were freaked out due to the power outage so they ended up in my bed-  I didn't sleep well.  Lousy excuse I know... really I was just LAZY!  Then I was stressed all day trying to figure out when I'd fit in my workout.  Why do I do this to myself?! Had a few minutes to race to the gym and got in 2.5 on the treadmill.  Definately felt my workout was cut short, but told myself if it was short I'd make it count! I started w/ 10 min mile pace for about 5 min, then keep increasing speed every few minutes.  Held it at 8:30 pace for about 8 minutes.  That felt good.  I forget what it feels like to run faster when I always do slow easy runs w/ Heather (we chat the whole time)

Will do some toning tonight also.

I've been thinking lately that for me personally, training for spring Marathon might be easier than training for a fall one.  I have more of a schedule in the winter and I'm better at training then.  The summer is so crazy for me w/ family schedule.  Ok- done whining....

Plan is to go long w/ Heather tomorrow before I leave town for a week....

Long run w/ Heather didn't work out.  Still haven't heard from her, I'm sure she has family stuff going on.  So I went it alone around 10:45 am this morning.  I think it was about 105 degrees out.  I planned a run that had 2 water stops so I could drench myself.  It worked, I got through, albeit (sp?)  at a slow pace.  It took me 42 min. to run 4 miles (inc. stops).   Not quite a 12 miler, but glad I logged some miles anyway.  Will try to get a least a couple miles everyday while on vacation in CA, leave later today, back next Wed.

Used pool this morning for workout.  Swam laps for 1/2 hr.  Amazing how that can tire me.  Really want to run, but no treadmill here and not safe due to traffic.  Tonight we move to hotel in Santa Cruz in walking distance to beach.  Plan on running beach this evening or tomorrow morning. Having an amazing vacation w/ Jim.  First time we've been on a trip alone in over a year.  Great to reconnect!!!!!!

Went on a morning run in Santa Cruz along West Cliff Drive by Lighthouse State Beach- Beautiful! Went out about 7:30 am and hardly anyone was on the trail.  Nice wide trail overlooking the ocean along the cliffs.  Felt good on this run, didn't take a watch but pace felt good.  Ankles were a little sore afterwards.  Not sure if its my lower calves or ankles.  Also- might be caused from my other shoes, not necessarily my running shoes-not sure what the deal is.  But I've been doing alot of walking on this vacation in high flip flops- probably not the best for my feet!

Loved this run!!! Can't beat the scenery.  Temp was nice also, 75 degrees with a slight ocean breeze- oh I envy the locals who can do this run everyday!

1.5 hr walking pushing a stroller, not sure how many miles, probably 4ish? No clue.  But was walking Folsom, CA trails with my sister Ashley and her 2 cute bambinos.  Nice change of scenery from St. George- they have trees here- weird! (hee hee)  Anyway- no running, but still a good workout.  Go home tomorrow - so back on the wagon!

Got up at 4:45 to attempt a 14 miler w/ Heather (who is still sick) realized last night (Thurs. night) that I am possibly pregnant w/ a threatened miscarriage.  Sorry- MAJOR personal info to divulge (sp?), but I figured what the heck! I haven't told anyone but Jim & Heather and you bloggers.  Anyway- it all makes since now why I've been so tired and not motivated to run.  I'm 34 and my youngest is 7, so baby was not in the plans.  However, I would be thrilled if I can keep this pregnancy.  But with my track record, I'm not getting my hopes up- my body has been refused the 3rd child a couple times.  SO- I have decided to take it easy until I know if I am truly pregnant or not or having a miscarriage.  I hopefully will know next week.  This will throw a major wrench in my marathon training plan! If I am preg I will keep running 3 & 4 miles and not do the marathon.  Since my body is so sketchy I feel I should cut way back if pregnant and not train for the marathon, esp. since this is my 1st marathon.  But I have been running 3 & 4 miles on a regular basis for years, so I would feel comfortable doing that.  If I miscarry (unfortunately likely for me) I will try to jump back on the training wagon ASAP.  If anyone has experience with running through these trials I'd love your feedback.  Thanks!

Taking it easy.  Will walk this evening.  Still waiting to see what the prego deal is, can't take a test until next week- but having scary symptoms.  Enough said.

Went to gym and ran 2 miles on treadmill before 6am weight class.  Felt good to run after so many days off.  Took it slow, averaged 10:30.  Got a little itchy, I do that sometimes when I haven't ran in awhile.  Don't know why- circulation?  Weight class was good also.  Got about 6.5 hrs. sleep last night which is good for me.  Setting a goal to always get at least that much - know I should have even more.

Took a preg. test Monday (yesterday) and it was negative.  Pretty sure I had an early miscarriage (sorry for all the details everyone- sometimes I treat this blog too much like a journal).  It wasn't uncomfortable because I was only a couple weeks along, but disappointing.  Although I wasn't trying to get pregnant, when I thought I might be I got excited.

Anyway- I have decided to get back to RUNNING! I plan to run a hilly 5 tomorrow and a long run Fri or Sat.  Haven't decided about rest of week yet...

Also setting goal for August to run 100 miles.  The closest I've gotten was back in June w/ 93 miles and this month was bunk.  Ready for a new month, frest start!
