Good run.  Could've /Should've gone further.  Actually we thought we were going 8 until we clocked it afterwards and realized it was just short of that.  I want to do 10 next weekend.  Heather & I are getting really comfy chatting and going slow on our long runs.  We decided we need to meet up with some other folks to motivate us and pick up our speed a bit.  There's a group of local girls that we crossed paths with this morning (they were doing 10) and they invited us to run with them next week.  We took them up on it!  Since its a long run, we don't care much about our time or going very fast, but we can tell we are going REALLY slow on our long runs.. But over all good run.  I took some GU midway (after 4 miles) and had a great 2nd half , felt like I was floating.  Anybody out there have any feedback on GU and other gels.  Don't know if I should get hooked or not?! I hadn't taken any since the 1/2 marathon and just remembered this morning that I had some and thought it might help with energy on the 2nd half of my run today.  It did help.  But not sure how these gels really are for our bodies?

3 miles ran, 1.5 walked.  Love my running partner to death, but too reliant on her.  We were planning on doing 4 or 5, but she was in a time crunch so we only ran 3.  Then I felt I needed more exercise so I walked for 20 minutes, not sure how far, maybe 1.5 miles? I should have ran more instead of walked!

Today was a good trial.  Heather & I decided we want to get in some running on our weight lifting day.  So we went to the track for 1/2 hr. before our 6 am weight class.  We did timed 200 (47?), 400 (1:55? can't quite remember, Heather was timing, I need to bring my watch next time), 800 (3:50 I DO remember this time) meters.  BUT we walked too much between runs and didn't get in as many reps as we would have liked.  But it was a good trial.  Next time, more running, less talking...

5 miles w/ Heather today.  Pretty flat run, not our usual 5 miler.  The wind was kicking.  I was TIRED this morning, but pushed through it.  Glad I went out, good run- again felt I could've gone longer.  I know I need to work on just running at least 4-5 miles at least 5 days a week.  My problem is I want to do it all- weights, spin class, walk, etc. - but when I do then I don't run as much as I'd like and don't have energy for it all! Ah- to find the balance?

The early bird gets the worm, and the late bird gets HEATSTROKE! No, luckily I didn't get heatstroke.  But I was foolish...again.... I thought since St. George was having a "cool front"- ha ha.. that I would be OK going out later in the day.  Also- this is how I rationalized my laziness this morning! Anyway- out at 11am for 4-5 miles in the rolling Bloomington Hills.  Ended up being just over 4 w/ too many walk breaks.  Too hot! Oh how the heat affects me...

Glad I got out regardless- have ran everyday this week, the first week in awhile.  Happy about that.  Going long tomorrow w/ Heather before I leave town for a week next week.  Challenge will be to keep up the running solo while in SLC next week.

Great run this morning out to the Arizona state line.  Its funny how you can feel so different from one day to the next.  Yesterday I struggled with a 4 miler and today I had a great 8 miler?! It really helped to go out nice and early (5:45 am) while it was still cool.  Heather & I were actually planning a 10 miler, but those babies- they can really put a kink in your schedule ya know... Heather's 1 yr. old needed some attention this morning causing Heather to run late and she had to be back home by a certain time for hubby to get to work.  What a trooper Heather is, running on no sleep! Anyway- I was still satisfied w/ 8.  Great run, finally getting pumped back up on running again.  My motivation had been lacking since I ran the 1/2 a month ago, but I feel the desire coming back- yah!

Usually don't run Sundays, but with traveling yesterday, I really wanted to get in some miles.  Only had 1/2 hr. before church, think I went about 3 miles around Daybreak. Have yet to clock it... Nice run around a cool neighborhood...

Ran around Daybreak again.  Didn't measure the distance, ran for about 40 min. so probably about 4 miles.  Tomorrow I'll try to get in at least 45 minutes...

8:20 am, hot! Luckily picked a trail that's 50% shade, webb hill out to dirt & back, to dixie center, under road, up to Tony Roma's & Back.  This probably doesn't make sense to anyone reading this but I wanted to be able to remember my run.  Still don't have a garmin, but figure it was 4.5 mi., since it took me about 45 min and I usually run just under a 10 min pace (like maybe 9:50) on my easy runs- last time I checked anyway.  And today due to heat there were a couple walk & drink breaks...

Green Springs run w/ Heather.  Felt good energy-wise, but got a weird chest cramp/pain about 3 miles into it.  We weren't even running fast, but I was talking alot (as usual! Maybe that was what caused it?)  I could run through it and didn't feel short of breath, lightheaded or any other symptoms.  Weird! Hopefully a one time thing!

treadmill at gym around 2 pm.  thought I'd be really tired this time of day, but felt really good.  did some tempo work, held it at 8:20 pace for awhile, but mostly ran about 9:20 average. kept incline 50/50 between flat & .5.

2 miles a long w/ weight lifting video.  I'm feeling really lazy today so I'm actually blogging this before I do it to commit myself to it! I will follow up later and report!

Follow-up- Good news & bad news.  Did get in 2 miles! Yah! Ran on track at 9am in heat (man, those tracks get hot!) while my son had track practice.  Bad news- never did get the weight training in.  Weight training is just not fun for me, so lacking motivation.  But I do feel its really important to do some weight training to support running muscles (esp. my knees) So will make it a goal to do better at that next week!

Up at 4am to stash our gatorade along the run.  10.4 miles to AZ border & back, 1/2 asphalt, 1/2 dirt.  Love running the dirt, feels so much better on my legs & feet.  My inside right ankle did start to tweak after 8 miles, but not really painful, just aware of it.  Need to keep an eye on that.  Had 1/2 pack of GU at 5 mile mark, really helped me finish strong. 10:57 average pace, typical for our long runs.

I really should go out and run right now, just a couple miles, to make my 25 a week goal.  Oh well.  Busy day- just got back from wakeboarding.  Before that I took my son to the Utah Summer Games where he took 3 medals in running! Yeah, he should start his own running blog- I'm such a proud momma!

Formaster run.  Struggled through it.  I had only gotten 5 hrs. sleep the last couple nights and it was catching up w/ me.  My own fault, being a nightowl.  Need to get to bed earlier!

2.5 at track at 9 min. pace.  Felt good.  Got more sleep last night.  My goal today is to weight train.  I have been really slacking on weight training (over 2 weeks w/o) and I can tell a big difference.  I tend to get more aches, I think from the supporting muscles not being strengthened.  So I went easy on mileage today so I can have energy to weight train.  Didn't get up in time for class at gym so I'll have to do a video at home w/ free weights.  Glad I caught up on some sleep though! Got about 8.5 hrs! What a difference it makes!

Finally did 20 min. of weights at 10:30 tonight! Not nearly enough, but at least I picked up the dang things which is more than I've done in the last 2 weeks!

Goal met for the day, run at least 2 miles & weights.  Tomorrow- longer run w/ hills...

Great run today. Good energy despite the ice cream I had late last night!  This was the occasional kind of run that reminds me why I love this crazy form of exercise.  Ran 4.5 miles w/ Heather- up Foremaster, then a loop and down- repeated that 5x.  For those of you not familiar w/ Foremaster, its a pretty steep little hill.  The section I did was .25 up, so my total of steep uphills was 1.25 (2.5 mi total hill running) the rest was flat.

Walked Foremaster for about 30 minutes today.  Am going to do some light weights & toning tonight. Was feeling a bit stiff & sore today- not bad, but could tell I could use a recovery day (AKA lazy?)  and just wanted to stretch everything out and take it easy today.  Going long tomorrow (12 miles) out to AZ border again (hello Lybi!)

12 miles yeah! Out about 1mi. past AZ border w/ Heather.  Longest run I've done since the Hurricane 1/2 in May.  Slow to get into, but felt smooth 2nd half of the run. Took 1/2 GU before, 1/2 GU at midpoint.  Water at mile 2.5 and Gatorade at mile 5.  Just need to do another mile tomorrow to meet my 25 miles this week goal.  Feeling good about this week!
