Good 2 mile hike this morning up Webb Hill (steep). Then 2 miles to get kids from school.  Weather is GREAT today, I hear its going to cool down again, that's fine w/ me.  I'd like to hold onto Spring for as long as I can, but I do feel bad for you northerners- I hear snow is in the forecast AGAIN?!

I'm feeling quite flabby since not going to weight class last week or this week so far. I think I'll bust out an old weight video and do it at home today. Then my plan is to get in some miles while waiting for daughter to do her gymnastics. I slept in again like a lump today, I need to meet Heather & Buff early tomorrow morning so I can break this lazy trend.

Obviously I can't keep my days straight this week! Kim & Andi pointed out that I got ahead of myself.  Tues. I actually ran 4 in the afternoon.  Now I will try to go correct Wed.!

4 miles this afternoon, 9:38 av. pace.  Took me a good couple miles to warm up first 2 miles were slow, last 2 under 9 min. miles.  Good reminder that I need to WARM UP before the 5k this Sat.  5ks are too short to try to get warmed up during them.

It was a very nice afternoon, but windy! I didn't mind the wind because I was doing an easy run and the cooler wind felt nice- but it made me think of you all who ran the windy 1/2 marathon last weekend- that must have been TOUGH, and you all still got amazing times- kudos to you!

Also got in about 45 minutes of upper body weights & toning today (then went to Bajio's for lunch, oh well!)

Blah, blah, blah.  All of the entry above in black is actually Tueday's workout! Wed. I went to the gym and ran 4.5! Better luck next week keeping my days straight!

Went to gym to run 4.5 on treadmill. Tried to really challenge myself with speed and a little incline. Not sure how ready I am for the 5k Saturday, but a good workout today regardless.

HA HA! I may be into "pre-blogging" once in awhile.  But this is taking it to the extreme! On Tues. I got ahead of myself and logged a few workouts that way without even realizing it- duh! When Thurs (tomorrow) actually comes, I'll log it in blue!

OK- its actually Thursday now (I have been in a time warp and confused my days, yes- I'm probably insane)  So far this week my workouts have been:

MON- 2 miles tough hike, 2 miles walk

TUES- 4 miles running

WED- 4.25 tempo run

THURS- (TODAY,yeah, I'm pretty sure- ha ha)  plan is to hike or run this afternoon.  I should do weights today, but don't want to be sore for race Sat, so I'll just go for some light cardio today (ended up with a 2 mi. walk w/ Hubby today)

FRI- Plan to run hard or Spin (made plans to run 6 w/ Heather Fri. am)

SAT- Run For Kids 5k

I should finish up w/ just about 25 miles this week

Wow- it feels good to type a new, fresh entry (after screwing up my entries earlier this week)

Today I met up w/ Heather for 5 mi. around my hilly neighborhood.  We haven't run together for a week and had lots of "catching up" to do.  I was happy that we kept a 9:19 pace with all the hills & talking.

Tomorrow is the Run 4 Kids 5k.  It'll be fun to see the bloggies and meet Kim!  Also have some friends from my ward going to race: Lanae (10K) Lanae has 9 great kids, don't know how she find the time to train, she's amazing! Sara (I think this will be her 2nd 5k?)  & Andi.  Its Andi's first race- GO ANDI! (Andi is also a supermom of 7 children!)

Ok- I have a weird question for the bloggies- does anyone out there experience a flushed face when they eat candy (chocolate or any sugary candy?) This is new for me, the past few weeks.  Could be perimenopausal stuff, or maybe just a blood sugar spike?  Either way, its obvious I need to cut out the sugary junk food & this may be just the push I need to do it.  The face flushing (feels very hot w/  very light perspiration) seems to be getting worse each time I eat candy.  Cookies & other sweets are OK, but straight candy or chocolate get me bad.  I'm sure you all think I'm crazy, just wondering if anyone else has heard of or experienced this?

I'll get my moaning over with early in the report.  Whah! I really wanted to PR and to place (who doesn't right?!) I knew it would be hard to beat my 5k time from last year on this run (24:25) but I really thought I could, even if just by a few seconds.  Last year I can in 4th, really wanted to pull out the 3rd this year.  Well, it wasn't my race today.  Came in 6 seconds slower than last year and 5th in my age division. Shoot!  The hill in the 3rd mile killed me, I was keeping about 7:41 until the incline, then I slowed down to 8- something.  Lesson learned is to not slack off so much on my mileage.  March was a pretty low mileage month for me and I think this is the results.  I guess I also have to start facing the reality that every run will NOT be a PR.

OK- now for the fun report...

This race was fun for the whole family (well, except maybe my hubby- who is always a good sport to get dragged to these races over & over).  My kids did the 1k and they really had fun.  They both ran strong & fast (Toby came in like 4th behind some older kids).  Kids got some nice bouncy balls (like dodgeball size) and a medal.  They were stoked!

Also fun today because two of my dear friends were running it- Sara & Andi.  This was Andi's 1st race ever & Sara's 2nd.  They both did great and looked strong coming across the finish.  Lenae, a neighbor also ran it and did awesome.  Another highlight for me today was finally meeting KIM! She is so cute, can't believe she's old enough to have a missionary, she looks so young & hip.  We got to chat a bit at the start & finish- CONGRATS to her on her 2nd place win! Go Kim! Not too many gals from the blog, but did have a good representation of guys from the blog- Dave, Steve H., Dustin, Clyde, Wildbull, Tom (I'm sure I'm forgetting people)- all looking strong and finishing early in the 10k.  Got to meet another Steve (not Hooper)from the blog today as well, but he was on crutches, so no run for him (wish him a fast recovery).

Anyway- fun day & run for a good cause.  Here's some pics!
